Change is Coming Info Session

If you have been part of the Pelham Soccer Club at any time in the last year or so, then you've heard the rumblings.  Half of the current 6 board members are leaving at the end of this season (that's in about 6 weeks). These 6 individuals are responsible for 90% of what happens each day within the Pelham Soccer Club.  There is a very real need for some parents to step up and become part of the club's operating board right away.

One of the primary missions of the current board is to do everything possible to keep Pelham Soccer "local".  Every week (literally) we receive phone calls from larger multi-town and multi-state clubs like Seacoast and GPS with offers from them to "absorb" our club.  We have remained strong, while many other surrounding small towns in NH have had to take this route. THIS IS NOT ANYTHING WE HAVE EVER BEEN INTERESTED IN.  We feel that our small town club has allowed us to remain "team and player competitive" BUT ALSO "player accommodating" when we need to be.  This has allowed us to operate a successful program each year.

Unfortunately, the gist of this email has been sent before but it has not resulted in any support.  Our concern is that if we do not find help, we will be forced to take that next call from GPS or Seacoast.

Join us next Wednesday 5/16 at the PHS Library from 6:30-7:30 to listen, speak up, volunteer, get involved.  Plain and simple, we need your help and cannot continue to do what we do without it.

Here is a list of some of the duties that need to be filled.  These and more will be discussed:

Fields and Schedules
Each season we need to organize with our coaches and the Parks & Rec Dept for practice fields and times.  We also need to communicate with the NHSL to schedule all of our home games for each team for the season.
  Field Lining
Those lines don't paint themselves... help is needed to paint lines on the fields each week prior to games

Website
Check it out... www.pelhamsoccerclub.com is our online "home base".  This is where all of our families register for our programs and we do our best to share information about all things Pelham Soccer.  We need someone to update information on the website about upcoming events and program registrations as they come up.  NO SPECIAL CODING SKILLS NEEDED.  This is usually about once per month and slightly more often prior to our Fall and Spring seasons.

League Liaison
This person would work with the NHSA/NHSL to "register" our teams, players, and coaches with the league in order to generate the Official Rosters and Player Cards each season.

General Equipment Maintenance
On occasion, nets come off of goal posts, goal-wheels need adjustment, benches need to be repaired (like now), and new items need to be ordered.

NE Revolution Tickets
Help to manage distribution of our season tickets and help organize our NHSA Rev's Day event.
     Kick Off Cookout
Each fall we provide a fun cookout for the players and their families.  We need help cooking, organizing, setup and breakdown.
     Tryouts
Our yearly tryouts happen in June and is a fairly large undertaking.  We need all hands on deck for this event as we do our best to view and evaluate ALL of our players during these 2 days.
     Coaching
Soccer experience is certainly not necessary.  We have struggled in recent years to find parents to help coach.  This is one of the most fulfilling jobs to help with.  Head coach, assistant coach, training help... so many opportunities.

These are just a handful of the items we need help with; we will discuss more at the meeting and we certainly hope you can join us.

Please be part of the change and help keep Pelham Soccer in Pelham.
